From speaking to others online, itβs clear that no two people have the same experience with their skin. Despite our skin experiences being very different, we all suffer from the same self-doubt and negative thoughts that creep in every time our skin decides to catch us off guard.

Many marketing strategies target people’s insecurities from weight gain to skin needing to be flawless. The media sends a message that “πππ’ππ ππππ ππ ππππ ππ πππ ππππ.” This can be hard to ignore when your skin is flaring, I want to remind everyone – YOU DONβT NEED ANOTHER PRODUCT – instead of reaching for a new product every time you flare try reaching out and asking for help. The best thing you can do with a chronic skin condition is accepting it and learn to live comfortably with itππ»ππππ© ππ¨π«π°ππ«π π¬π€π’π§ π©π¨π¬π’ππ’π―π’ππ²ππ»

I was reading a mental health and skin report earlier and the survey answers in it really stuck with me and kind of inspired this post. Survey respondents demonstrated that they had internalised dominant stereotypes concerning attractiveness:
