So Iβve been labelled as the skincare expert of my friendship groupπ€£π€£π€£and the go-to agony aunt for skin issues – which I fully immerse myself into this label as I fucking love skincare (wish I was an expert tho)β¨
Recently one of my friends came to me saying her skin was more dry and dehydrated after implementing Hyaluronic Acid. I was kinda shocked as it works wonders for me but at the same time, I preach the fact πΎπππ πΎππππ πππ πππ πΎππβπ π¨πππππ πΎπππ πππ πΆπππππ.
Anyway, after one quick question, I realized the cause of her issues. She had been applying HA to dry skin (your skin has to be DAMP: e.g. post cleanser/shower / use a mist spray!!). Then by chance at work, I had the same conversation with someone else and they said HA wasnβt doing anything for them so again I asked βhow are you applying itβ again she was applying to non-damp/ cleansed skinπ€£π€£
Apparently, this is a common issue. GALS I AM HERE TO REPEAT π’π’APPLY HA TO DAMP SKIN OTHERWISE IT DOESNβT WORK!!!!
Hyaluronic acid is renowned for its ability to hydrate skin. But if you donβt use it right, you could end up with even drier skin than before. In fact, applying it to dry uncleansed skin can have the opposite effect to what is intended, and actually leave skin more dehydrated (as is evident by my friends).
The word βacidβ may frighten some people, but you donβt need to worry about this skincare ingredient. Before I started using hyaluronic acid I stalked the shit out of it online as someone with hyper sensitive skin & eczema I am very cautious of new products. Please make sure when using new products you do your research rather than blindly following others!
One of the videos I found very useful when first learning about HA – Skip to 4 minutes 14 secs !!
EVERYONE’S SKIN IS DIFFERENT & products canβt always just be applied straight to your skin also some products canβt be applied with others !! Happy to share article links for people to read & educate themselves on also recommend @carolinehirons βthe ultimate no-nonsense guideβ β¨
