✨ELEANOR BURNSIDE✨AKA @Elle_Eczema is the next SKIN STORY we are sharing for #EczemaAwarenessMonth

We hope that these stories help you connect and feel less alone through mutual understanding of the way in which our skin can make us feel. We also hope that these stories reach those who don’t suffer from eczema so they can gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of living with eczema.

NOW OVER TO ELLE🥁⬇️

𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙜 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙙 𝙀𝙘𝙯𝙚𝙢𝙖? + 𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙞𝙩?

I have had eczema since I was about 6 months old I am now 27. My earliest memory is when I started school being called out of lessons at a certain point to go and put cream on and also having to sit on a rubber spot in lessons as I couldn’t sit on the carpet as this would irritate my eczema.

𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙨𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙜𝙝𝙩 𝙮𝙤𝙪?

That there is a chance that you might not grow out of it and if you don’t that is okay, you’ll grow into it. My biggest lesson has been that there is no right or wrong approach to treating eczema as everyone is different.

The biggest thing for me is how it impacts your mental health and your daily life. When going through a flare not only can be painful when you move about but it makes you feel so low within yourself. It can be difficult to leave the house as it can be so painful and clothes can irritate or make things feel worse. So if we say we can’t meet or anything like that we aren’t being difficult but life is feeling a little harder for us right now.

I am still learning with trial and error and even now I am finding that some products that have worked for me previously no longer work. But the main ones are anything that is too scented is just a no-go. I have found that I can wear perfume as long as I spray it on my clothes and not on my skin.

HELP:

What are the top products that have helped your skin? Or even your all-time ride-or-die brand for sensitive skin…

The products that have helped my skin the most have been from The Beauty of Eczema the bath oil has been amazing and soothed my skin which means I can enjoy baths again as it makes the water milky which then doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry. The calming cream is perfect as it gives my skin the right amount of moisture without leaving me feeling all sticky. I love the Westlabs Dead Sea Salt along with bath oil from The Beauty of Eczema this is such a good combination so when I get out of the bath my skin already feels so smooth. My other go-to is the Aveeno Dermax range which is perfect for the winter months whilst my skin gets used to the change in weather.

What accounts have helped you the most when it came to accepting your skin condition? 9. What would be your biggest tips for self-love/acceptance? I know a lot of people struggle with this

The accounts that have helped me the most are Camille Knowles (and The Beauty of Eczema), @Itch_n_bitch, @emilybowenslife, @mackies_moments, @daisymailn_skin, @_lydslife, @lifeoflowri

My biggest tip for self-love/acceptance is that I am more than my eczema it doesn’t define me as a person. My family, partner and friends all see past it and see the real me which is the most important.

THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STORY Elle,

love always,

Katie
