Anxiety is the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week 2023 so thought Iβd share a little slice πβ¬οΈ
SADLY, visible conditions often cause invisible conditionsβ₯οΈ Loss of control is one of the most common triggers for anxiety sufferers and sadly for us itchy people one of the biggest parts of our conditions is loss of control of our skin.
Sometimes I think Eczema would be easier to deal with if it was constant, then weβd know what to expect.
I hope that you find yourself in a beautiful middle ground when it comes to your skin, a place where you no longer constantly worry about others seeing your skin instead you hope they say something so you can educate them.
I have found myself in this weird place where what I once feared I love as I have this passion for educating others about how eczema is way more than just a rash. Letβs call this place inner and outer peace xoxo
πππ π§ππ£π¦ THAT HELPED ME;
βοΈWhen out in public, should you feel overwhelmed with skin-related anxiety, try a grounding technique: 54321! name five things you can see, four things you can feel, three things you can hear, two things you can smell, and one good thing about yourself! then try to go back to focusing on the task at hand. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth 5 times.
βοΈCleanse your social media feeds. Social media is an incredible tool. It has brought all of us together in ways we never knew possible and allows for moments to be shared with friends, but it can also be detrimental to body acceptance. If you find yourself constantly comparing your body to those you follow online, or feeling drained after your time scrolling, try identifying this content and cleansing your feed from it.
βοΈDitch the narrative that looking a certain way will make you happier. You are beautiful. Happiness is impacted by so many different parts of your life, not just the way your body looks on the outside. Feeling comfortable in your body is a process that starts from the inside out, and often changing your physical appearance doesnβt create true and sudden happiness.
BIG LOVE,
@Mackies_Moments xx
