Claire Spurgin✨AKA @Claires__Psorasis shares her SKIN STORY for #PsoriasisAwarenessMonth

2–3 minutes

#TheItchyGang comes in many different shapes, sizes, skin tones, and skin conditions. This month I am making some noise for our Psoriasis SISTERS & MISTERS!

OVER TO CLAIRE🥁⬇️

How long have you had PSORIASIS? & What’s your earliest memory of having it?

I’ve had psoriasis for eight years. Throughout this time period, my skin has been really up and down with some long-lasting calm periods shortly followed by full body flares.

I find it hard to remember how my psoriasis started, but I have pictures that remind me. Psoriasis comes on gradually so it’s hard to pinpoint, I do remember certain days very well, for all the wrong reasons.

I remember the days the creams made my skin worse. Also, the days, when the doctors didn’t know what my skin condition was and then the day I was finally diagnosed with psoriasis at the hospital.

all the in-between you get so used to this new normal it becomes a bit of a blur!

What’s the one thing you’d like people without PSORIASIS to know?

That it’s not okay to ask us ‘what’s wrong with us’ is a question that broke me so many times but in the end, caused me to start my Instagram page!

When I was asked ‘what was wrong with me’ they pointed out my biggest insecurity and at the start I just wanted to hide away, but people didn’t know that, They were just curious but it still hurt me!

If someone were to ask me now, I would be more than happy to tell them because I have accepted my psoriasis.

What are the top products that have helped your skin? I love CBD products for my face, I love @thefitish. I also use @sukinskincare for my body and I have used these products for over a year now!

What has been your lesson?   I’ve learnt that I am who I am and I should be proud of it! I was so self conscious of my psoriasis at the start and I was embarrassed but now I see it makes me unique!

What accounts have helped you the most when it came to accepting your skin condition? @rosieandharry – Rosie is amazing to watch and has taught me so much.

What would be your biggest tips for self-love/acceptance? I know a lot of people struggle with this… I know that it is hard, but who cares what people think! This took a long time for me to understand but eventually no one’s comments could hurt me! I took a lot of time to pamper myself and do things which made me feel better in myself and soon I became strong
