HEY YOU: You are not defined by your skin!

2–3 minutes

If you don’t see yourself in any beauty campaign, you start to think you’re not beautiful. I am here to remind you, that YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL💞 Too often I found myself beating myself up for feeling sad about my skin. FEEL THE FEELS. It’s part of healing…

For me, Beauty is a feeling. You don’t see it, you feel it. Beauty is having the confidence to look yourself in the eyes when your skin is unrecognizable from flares and says you know what ‘Fuck it’ I am me, I am unique and I accept myself.

Real beauty is the acceptance of yourself, ‘flaws’ and all. No one can hurt you anymore because you are acknowledging your insecurities and taking control of your narrative; It’s not poor you – it’s powerful you.

I have finally accepted my skin condition and realized it does not define me; it is merely a part of me. A part of me I have grown to love and care for instead of hate and for me that is why acceptance is the true definition of beauty.

As I always say; beauty starts in your head, not in your mirror.

Having said this, I know when your skin feels uncomfortable you feel uncomfortable too, so don’t beat yourself up too much on those days you get caught off guard and find yourself being negative about what you see.

What I’ve realized is the one thing you notice the most is often the one thing others see the least. SHOUTOUT to all my itchy friends who hate their flared skin but are actively working towards finding the beauty and comfort to be in their own skin.

This shit is hard, takes a lot of time, and god damn it’s emotionally draining.

I just want to say I see you and I am proud of you.

Little by little and with time you’ll one day be at peace with your flared skin and focus more on healing than hating it and will feel confident to go outside without pulling your sleeves down and hiding your skin.

REMINDER💬 Being different from the ‘norm’ doesn’t make you any less than others. It gives you the power to help others feel more comfortable in their own skin. It’s the repetition of affirmations that leads to belief. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things begin to happen.

Embrace your uniqueness. I have been empowered by others to show my skin, let’s domino this feeling. The more we share our real skin the more normal and accepted it shall become.

@Itch_N_Bitch’s – #TheItchyGang is a gang of people who have been empowered by their skin struggles and have decided to openly share their struggles to inspire the next generation to challenge the beauty standards around them.

Let’s break down stereotypes, and unrealistic expectations and show everyone the realities of eczema & conditions.
