Winter can be a real struggle for those of us with sensitive, eczema-prone skin. The chilly, dry air really knows how to make our symptoms worsen and leave us feeling super uncomfortable. Here’s some tips to help you a little in the cold months ⬇️
- Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate: Moisturizing is key for eczema-prone skin. Opt for a rich, fragrance-free moisturizer and apply it immediately after bathing to lock in moisture.
- Gentle Cleansing: Avoid hot showers and opt for gentle, fragrance-free cleansers to prevent further drying out your skin. SOAK & SEAL AFTER Method!
- Protect Your Skin: When heading outdoors, protect your skin from the harsh elements by wearing gloves, scarves, and other protective clothing.
- Humidify Your Home: Using a humidifier can help add moisture to the air in your home, preventing your skin from drying out.
- Watch Your Diet: Certain foods can trigger eczema flare-ups. Consider keeping a food diary to track any potential triggers.
- Layer Up: Choose soft, natural fabrics like cotton and silk for your clothing, and layer up to prevent overheating and sweating, which can irritate the skin.
its time to Tweak my skincare routine for the change of seasons…
Lower humidity, harsh winds, and dry indoor heat also approaches. SADLY, these conditions draw moisture away from the skin and can read havoc on us ITCHY BITCHEZ. I’ve already noticed dryness, irritation, and redness occurring more often (especially going from cold to hot environments!!).
SMALL EXTRA tip; I double up on moisture by applying a few drops of serum before moisturising my skin. Also I’m gonna restart my pamper sessions. I’ll paint a picture; I’ll have Netflix playing, I’ll turn on my diffuser (to prevent air dryness), a cup of tea and A HYDRATING FACE MASK/pack. Probs like once a week! SELF CAREEEEE XOXO
