Some mornings, I used to wake up covered in hives. Other mornings, I felt like I hadn’t slept at all — battling brain fog before the day had even begun.
I’ve lived with eczema for most of my life, but last summer things took a turn. I’d just moved into a new home with a garden (a dream!) and was so excited for my first proper summer outdoors. But very quickly, I started noticing that I was breaking out in hives almost daily. The itchiness was relentless, and scratching often turned into full-blown eczema flares.
I knew something had changed. So I booked an allergen blood test — and the results were clear: I had a Grade 4 pollen allergy. Suddenly it all made sense.
I shared a bit about this on Instagram, and was instantly flooded with DMs from people saying the same thing: “You need an air purifier.” At the time, I had no idea how much of a difference one small device could make.
Eventually, I bought the Philips 800 Series Air Purifier for my bedroom during the Black Friday sales. I was sceptical… but honestly? I noticed the difference within half an hour. The air just felt lighter. My breathing was easier, and my skin felt less aggravated by the space I was in.
When I changed the filter for the first time and saw how much dust, dander, and pollen had been collected, I was shocked. It made me wonder how long I’d been living in air that was triggering my body without even realising.
Since then, my skin has started to recover. I’ve gone from daily hives to far more manageable flares, and my sleep is finally deeper and more restorative. That alone has changed my quality of life.
