HOST / EDITOR / CREATOR / ITCHY ADVOCATE
Hello all, my name is Katie and I have been an Eczema and sensitive skin sufferer since birth (1996 b*tch).
My Eczema has always been the one part of me I hid and felt embarrassed of. I’ll never forget the painful memories of trying to hide my eczema by covering it with foundation for any kind of social event (Not a good idea, burns like hell) or when girls would bully me for being in jeans and long sleeves at parties when they were in dresses. I know a lot of other people feel the same way and sometimes we look at ourselves and think we are disgusting.
THIS IS NOT OKAY and is something I want to change. As I’ve got older I’ve realised I am not the problem, people’s reactions to my skin are. EDUCATE yourself before you open your mouth and speak of somebody else’s body.
To this day I still remember negative comments people have made about my skin. I hope Itch & Bitch can become a place you feel like your not the odd one out, feel supported and ultimately helps you change the way you think about your skin condition.
Let’s show ourselves and each other that our skin is beautiful, flare or no flare. Let’s really start loving the skin we’re in.
HEYY, If you don’t see yourself in any beauty campaign/ online, you start to think you’re not beautiful. You start to think you have all these problems and it can make you feel like you don’t belong in your skin.
ITCH N BITCH – Eczema & Itchy Skin Condition Awareness
itch & bitch page & podcast was born on 19th January 2021 by Katie & Daisy after a short conversation Katie went away and created a name and logo overnight, inspired by personal experiences. The name Itch N Bitch came from Katie’s boyfriend Sol who endearingly called her a itchy bish when she was quite literally itchin’ n bitchin’ about her skin.
Katie Mackie edits manages, creates, and replies to all the content for itch N bitch alongside her full time job. In June 2022 Katie Mackie AKA (@Mackies_Moments) launched Itch N Bitch MERCH, turning her and many other people’s struggles into wearable art. Changing the narrative on skin conditions one bag at a time.
2 years on Daisy is no longer involved and itch n bitch has flourished into a 7,000+ strong community of itchy people called THE ITCHY GANG.
The best advice is from people who understand what you are going through. @itch_n_bitch is a gorgeous community of itchy people connecting over the mutual understanding of the mental health side of a skin condition. A peer-to-peer itchy support community – THE ITCHY GANG. Creator @Mackies_Moments believes that communities like the Eczema/TSW/online skin community can help others feel less alone, more normal, and accepted.
Simply by posting their REAL skin.
